About the Founder
Ashley Sohl is a professional gemologist certified in Colored Stones through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), a Registered Gemologist Appraiser in training at the United States Gemological Institute (USGI), and a certified Daoist stone medicine practitioner. Her training spans advanced BioGeometry, vibrational radiesthesia, indigenous Earth medicine practices, sacred sound healing and behavioral psychoacoustics, natural philosophy, and the esoteric traditions from the East and West, with a particular focus on ancient lapidaries, alchemy, stone materia medica, and talismanic design and use.
Ashley is a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy and Religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies, specializing in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. Her doctoral research examines the relationship among Jungian individuation, synchronicity, archetypal time as revealed through astrological analysis, and deep meaning within an ensouled, participatory cosmos.

Her dissertation is titled The Individuating Cosmos: Toward a Jungian Fractal Cosmology of Synchronicity, Archetypal Time, and Deep Meaning. Her work reframes the Jungian concept of individuation as an imperative cosmological process by which the universe attains self-awareness across multiple scales of being, linking human consciousness to the intelligence embedded in the natural world, including the mineral kingdom.
Over a decade ago, Ashley began a personal investigation into the science behind the healing power of stones, as directly experienced by ancient civilizations. Unsatisfied with the available stone-healing courses at the time, she drew on her research skills and scoured ancient lapidaries, philosophical texts, arcane science volumes, vibrational science manuals, and gemological references. She trained in multiple healing and vibrational science modalities, then became a gemologist and continues to advance her knowledge and skills in both areas. Ashley’s research at Psyche & Stone, paired with her doctoral research, is the foundation from which both of her businesses operate. Her research encompasses a body of work that connects the measurable, empirical properties of stones with their metaphysical and healing applications, their relation to the self, and their dual value as collectibles and frequency tools for transformation.

Ashley has received professional training and extensive certifications and has pursued advanced study in several areas, resulting in a transdisciplinary, multimodal approach to the work she does. As a philosopher of mind and a lifelong student of the cosmos, she will continue to add to this living list over time.
